Time Capsule of Racial Stereotypy
Rarely missed an episode as a kid. Happy to encounter this (apparently) first episode because it set up the exposition of characters and story line--which I had missed but which hardly mattered for an awed youth at the dawn of the TV age. How could something so enjoyable then appear so silly now? The dialogue, the acting! OMG! Still, the series is a useful window onto the casual racial stereotyping that I, a white rowhouse kid, accepted as axiomatic. No indoctrination necessary. It's was an after-school study hall of racial attitudes that took a lot of history to unlearn. A cautionary reminder of the power of "innocent," politically neutral media to send easily assimilated, imperceptible and often intolerable ideological messages.

A Vintage Adventure...
As a child, back in the 50s, I loved this show. So much so that I've never forgotten it. Admittedly, the wear and tear of time, coupled with greater sophistication and increased technology, make some inroads. Yet, it is well worth watching today.

Jon Hall In Good Role As "Ramar of the Jungle"
A good show mainly geared for children in the early days of television. Jon Hall is a medical doctor serving the native population of Africa. Again, a good show for the time and still of interest.
